Desert Mob 2024

Desert Mob is back for 2024 with hundreds of artists from 35 art centres across the desert converging on Mparntwe (Alice Springs) to celebrate desert culture in the heart of Australia.

Tjanpi is excited to be not only exhibiting at Desert Mob, but also participating in the beloved Desert Mob Marketplace as well as hosting a weaving demonstration as part of the Symposium.

EXHIBITION

Opens Thursday 5 September at 5pm
Exhibiting until 20 October

We are proud to be presenting our collection of works titled Nintiringanyi, Kunpuringanyi (Learning, Becoming Strong).

Artists from Kaltukatjara (Docker River), NT, came together to create a visual representation of intergenerational weaving knowledge, shared through kami (grandmothers), ngunytju (mothers), untal(pa) (daughters), kangkuru (sisters) and kuntili and ngunytju (aunties). Nintiringanyi, Kunpuringanyi is a modern interpretation of a longstanding art practise – one that continues to transform with each newly contributing generation.

Feature artists: Beryl Bell, Sheryth Bronson, Vanessa Calma, Jezebel Hopkins, Joy Jackson, Kirsten Kulitja, Selina Kulitja, Kathryn Queama, Vanessa Queama, and Rosalind Yibardi.

This project was made possible thanks to generous funding from the Central Land Council

The Desert Mob 2024 Exhibition showcases over 30 Art Centres and is an invitation to view hundred of works by artists who are members of Aboriginal-governed community art centres across Central Australia.

All works will be available for sale.

If you're unable to attend the opening weekend in person, the Desert Mob 2024 Exhibition will be live online from 9am (ACST) Friday 6th September. All works will be available to purchase unless sold prior at the opening night.
