Cecily is a Ngaanyatjarra woman who was born at Mt Davies community, South Australia in 1963. She later attended school in Warburton community, Western Australia. Cecily’s family, originally from the Warakurna area, moved back there in 1976 when the permanent community was established.
Cecily spent the remainder of her childhood in Warakurna and later married a Noongar man, Graham Nelson (dec). Together they raised their children in Warakurna and Cecily continues to live happily there surrounded by her children and grandchildren.
Cecily began weaving in April 2018. She quickly began creating strong, well-sewn animal sculptures using wool and minarri grass.
