Artist Biography

Aileen is a young weaver from Kaltjiti (Fregon) in South Australia.

“My mum taught me to weave, Debra McDonald. My Auntie is the tjanpi lady, Imiyari Adamson. I have two daughters and one sister. I usually like to paint, but I’m trying to do something different. I’ll always try to do Tjanpi. Anything that can help me and my family. My daughters love to watch and try and help me weave. I feel that if I do more Tjanpi weaving, I can make a difference for me and my daughters. Like pass it down to the next generation. I’d like to make kangaroos, emu and birds. Anything I see out bush, I want to show people what we do and see at Fregon.”
