Artist Biography

myra-yurtiwa-cookMyra Yurtiwa Cook was born in 1932 at Kartjinguku Creek between Warakurna and Tjukurla in the east Gibson Desert, Western Australia. As a child she travelled with her family through her Father’s country near Kulail, Tjukurla, Docker River and Warakurna, living at Warburton Mission Blackstone and Wanarn.  Myra is a strong artist both as a weaver and a painter. In her last years Myra stayed at Kungkarrangkalpa (Seven Sisters) Aged Care in Wanarn creating lovely nest like works .
