Employment

Tjanpi Desert Weavers was initiated by NPY Women’s Council (NPYWC) in 1995 in response to an expressed need by Anangu and Yarnangu women for meaningful and culturally appropriate employment.
Tjanpi (meaning native desert grass) has evolved into a dynamic Indigenous social enterprise of NPYWC, enabling women on the Lands to earn a regular income through fibre art. Women artists across the Central and Western Desert region come together on Country to collect tjanpi, share skills and create beautiful fibre art.

Our team is made up of 12 staff who support Tjanpi's operations from Mparntwe (Alice Springs) and NPY communities.
