Patterns and Textures and Lines - Oh My! is a commercial JamFactory exhibition exploring the intrinsic beauty of repetitive processes and patterns in craft making. These repetitive processes can be seen in many different techniques such as coiling and graffito in clay, stitching or carving.
The exhibiting selection of Tjanpi work celebrates the joy of basket weaving and the use of colour and material to create pattern and structure. Harvested native grass from the Ngaanyatjarra Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara lands is bound, stitched and woven together by brightly coloured raffia and wool, sometimes organically, sometimes methodically, but always with rhythm.
