Echoes Unveiled: Art by First Nations Women from Australia

26 June - 21 September 2025
Artizon Museum, Japan

Our stop-motion animations are now showing in Echoes Unveiled: Art by First Nations Women from Australia - the first-ever exhibition in Japan dedicated solely to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women artists.

Echoes Unveiled explores how women have shaped and led contemporary Aboriginal art - and we're proud to stand alongside an incredible line-up of artists.

Featured Tjanpi animations:
• Kukaputju – The Hunter (2021)
• Tangki – Donkey (2021)
• Ngayuku Papa: Bluey and Big Boy (2018)
• Ngayuku Papa: Tiny (2018)

These multi-year animation projects arose from Tjanpi’s artist-led imperative to explore different storytelling methods using fibre artwork. Animation has proved to be an exceptional medium for the tactile art form, inherently complimenting the whimsy nature of Tjanpi sculptures. Our animations offer important insights into Anangu lives, told through Anangu voices, in Anangu languages and on Anangu Country.
